Join us for a very special evening with writer, director, and cosmic adventurer Tom Lopez, along with special guests. Lopez has worked with such legends as Allen Ginsberg, Philip Glass and Laurie Anderson and produced the quirky and beloved 1980s NPR series, "Saratoga Springs." The series was broadcast on hundreds of stations across the country, but never in the Capital Region. Tonight's performance is a "Best of" featuring characters and sound clips from that series, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The series was described by Variety magazine as "a sort of avant-garde Peyton Place without the angst," and originally featured 26 different characters including about 20 of whom were local. Some of the original characters may be making a special "surprise" appearance. Tom has traveled the globe collecting sounds from Belize to Bali, Morocco to Montreal, Sumatra to Saratoga Springs. His audio dramas, produced under the auspices of his ZBS Foundation, can be heard around the world on NPR, the BBC, Armed Forces Radio, Internet radio, and in downloadable podcasts.
