With his rich, resonant voice and wealth of life experience, Timothy Mason is the folk world's leading performance poet. His work in human services--especially helping victims of violence--fills his poems with empathy and compassion. Created for live performance rather than the printed page, Tim's poems are captivating stories full of revelatory wisdom galloping along on compelling rhythms. This accessible, entertaining style has won him main stage spots at folk festivals across North America.
Tim will be accompanied by Japanese composer and fingerstyle guitarist Hiroya Tsukamoto. Hiroya reaches across cultural boundaries to speak directly to the human spirit through exquisitely beautiful guitar compositions. Born in Kyoto, he trained on banjo and guitar from childhood. After discovering the musical social movement Nueva Cancion, he completed his studies at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. He has won several prestigious international prizes for his world music compositions. He has appeared several times at NYC's Blue Note, and works regularly with Esperanza Spalding.
