Melissa Greener captivates with dynamic melodies, loads of groove, and vocal chops that command. She was raised in a brew of Motown, torchy standards and classic rock under the influence of a classically trained soprano mother who sang in the lounge of Detroit's Playboy Club. Her lyrical influences go back to the poetry that Melissa stole from the junior high library - Dylan Thomas, Robert Service, Dickenson and Yeats. Her latest album, Transistor Corazon, is a fusion of modernist poetry, romantic literature, and a soulful 1960's Laurel Canyon.
As a teenager, Greg Trooper was enthralled by holy musical trinity of Otis Redding, Bob Dylan, and Hank Williams, with their passion, literary dexterity and plainspoken honesty. Eleven albums later, music critics praise Trooper's poetic feel, infectious melodies and compassionate lyrics. His songs have been recorded by Steve Earle, Billy Bragg, Robert Earl Keen, and others. In the words of Dave Marsh, "Greg Trooper is a songwriter and performer who deserves about 12 times the attention he's received. He knows how to play rock against country and folk and position the pressures of adulthood against the longing for adolescent freedom."
