Okayplayer Presents: Shouting at the Screen
Doors open at 8pm
Back in the days before live-tweeting, the only way to express your thoughts while watching a movie was to yell them out loud to the delight of your friends, and the disgust of the old people two rows in front of you. Join WYATT CENAC (Comedy Central's "The Daily Show") and DONWILL (Tanya Morgan) as they take you back to the 70s and guide you through an evening of the most outrageous blaxploitation movie classics. Each month, Shouting at the Screen will present a handpicked black cinema gem; from Black Shampoo to Blacula, to a bunch of other movies from the seventies that have "black" in the title. Donwill and Wyatt crack wise from the peanut gallery like a non-felt versions of Statler and Waldorf. Get there early to grab a drink while DJ Taras spins, then settle in to hear what these jive-talkin' turkeys have to say.
About the hosts
DONWILL is a member of Tanya Morgan, the critically acclaimed rap group behind underground classics like "Moonlighting" and "Brooklynati." When he is not penning great music or writing about sneakers he can be found musing the finer things in life via his website www.donwill.me. Also look for him on MTV's Next Movie Top 10 list series. WYATT CENAC is a comedian who started his performance and writing career in L.A., where he spent three seasons as a writer on FOX's animated show KING OF THE HILL. In 2008, Wyatt starred in the three-time Independent Spirit Award-nominated MEDICINE FOR MELANCHOLY, the same year he joined the news team of THE DAILY SHOW as a correspondent and writer. Shouting at the Screen is presented by Okayplayer and is produced by Creaghead & Company and MWAYS Productions.
