Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom
Can't get enough of Idris Elba? First claiming our attention as Stringer Bell in The Wire, and then in Pacific Rim and Luther, Elba here channels Nelson Mandela in a film that focuses on the great mans early career, when he was more the fire breathing revolutionary than the great statesman who engineered the remarkable Truth and Reconciliation program. As soon as Elba opens his mouth we are transported to the rural cape region of South Africa where he grew up. Under the direction of Justin Chadwick, Mandela's autobiography has become an electrifying film. Elba is joined by Naomie Harris as Winnie. Played the Toronto Film Festival.
