A sinful, silly and sinister tradition continues with our third annual Halloween fundraiser, "A Night of Murder Ballads," featuring MC Michael Eck with special guests Kim Kilby, Rich Bala, Charlie Morris, Matt Durfee, members of The Lucky Jukebox Brigade and the Caffe Lena debut of Ryder & Hazel and the Dust Bowl Faeries.
Sounds scary, but it's actually just good, gory fun, with local leading lights singing about dead lovers, departed drifters and defunct sailors. Even Obamacare can't save these sad subjects of slaughter.
Our breathtaking balladeers bring the great folksong murder tradition up to date with songs by Phil Ochs, Gillian Welch, Bruce Springsteen, and a great swath of originals done on guitar, ukulele, harmony vocals and more.
All tricks aside, the proceeds will benefit Caffe Lena so we can keep bringing you the finest folk year round.
