With a "Byrdsy jangle, and boy-girl harmonies" (Rolling Stone), The Kennedys are a NY husband-and-wife duo who have traversed a broad musical landscape, surveying power pop, acoustic songwriting, and organic rock. Tonight's concert is part of the Kennedys' Classic Coffeehouse Tour, their homage to the Beats, hipsters, trads and anti-folk who have created the ideal environment for cool music that flies under the radar. Conversation and storytelling and the camaraderie of an all-volunteer staff create a vibe that big concert halls can never replicate. The Kennedys will be using an "all request" format, so come prepared to hear your Kennedys favorites, and maybe some stories from the endless road.
Fourteen-year-old Sawyer Fredericks debuted at our open mic this fall and, well, sometimes get the feeling a kid has that special "something." His voice is beautiful and the songs are just pouring out of him. He'll open tonight's show with a few acoustic folk originals.
