Fade to Black: Eve's Bayou
Monthly film series, presented by LANGSTON, focused on the representation of Black people in film and it's affect on culture and society. Our kickoff series focuses on horror films. Each film screening will have a special guest who will participate in a talk-back about the film with our curator and hostess, Isabella L Price.
About Eve's Bayou: Written and directed by Kasi Lemmons (Harriet), this 1997 film stars Samuel L. Jackson (Sphere, Deep Blue Sea), Lynn Whitfield (A Thin Line Between Love and Hate, Greenleaf), Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Birds of Prey, Underground), and Diahann Carroll (Carmen Jones, Julia). The film centers on a Creole-American family in 1960's Louisiana and the lies that tear their family apart when a deep secret, infidelity, and voodoo is introduced.
