Too Much is an abstract dance piece performed and choreographed by Nic Lincoln. This mesmerizing work cleverly examines the importance of trying and the positive influence of failure. Lincoln is joined by locally renowned glam-rock-trans-punk-singer, Venus de Mars. This show doubles as a performance art piece and a call to action.
Sources of inspiration for Too Much include; NASAs 1977 Voyager expedition, astronomy, astrophysics, birds, human understanding, and the entries from Lincolns personal journal.
Nic was named one of 25 to Watch by Dance Magazine, named one of three Artists Who We Love by Minnesota Monthly magazine, and named Best Dancerby the City Pages. In his spare time, he is an insightful yoga teacher.
Local rock-legend Venus de Mars is a fiscal year 2019 recipient of an Artist Initiative grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. After two decades of raising a little hell and a lot of eyebrows with her glam-metal band All the Pretty Horses, Venus sings solo for the first half of the show.
Rehearsals for Too Much were incubated by the Cowels Centers Generating Room Project, and preparations in Lincolns living room. It would make sense that this piece was born from rehearsals in my apartmentIve been sourcing ideas for my work by dancing around my living room late at night since I was a kid.
