Billy The Liar | Toybox Theater & Cripps Puppets
Billy The Liar is a fast paced, high energy puppet play that does not take its audience for granted, but instead takes them for a ride, with surprises around every turn. Follow the adventures of Billy and his friend Suzy, as Billy tells more and more lies that get him into more and more trouble.
Conceived by Keith Shubert of Toybox Theatre, with marionettes by Madison J. Cripps of Cripps Puppets, **Billy The Liar** is defined by the surprising warmth of its comic darkness; the villains are often as sweetly naive as his protagonists. All of them share a need for attention and love that makes them both relatable and memorable to a crowd, equally endearing to children and adults.
"Our goal is to create a fun and engaging experience which touches the hearts and minds of our audience and hopefully inspires them for years. The approach we commonly apply is to create a work unlike any that we have seen or experienced within the medium of visual theatre/puppetry. The narrative is driven by a combination of bits of dreams, twists on classic tales, and popular cultural/literary allegories.
Billy The Liar features Czech-style marionettes, rod puppets, over-sized toy theatre, and found objects. It is suitable for all audiences with a taste for the zany and fun.
