Architecture Matters Design Forum 10 Year Anniversary: BRUTALISM
Join hosts Saxon Sigerson, AIA, Arturo Levenfeld, AIA, Kris Barkley, AIA, and Amanda Green, AIA, for the 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY of Architecture Matters as we spend the evening with discussion centered on Brutalism with an in-depth look at several Brutalist projects.
The term Brutalism was coined in the early 1950s and is generally used to describe buildings that many feel are cold, impersonal and lacking in human scale. Though hated by most, these primarily concrete structures can have a strong sense of order and design purity. Is this purity cause enough to to take a fresh look at Brutalism as a valid architectural aesthetic? Or is it just the architectural version of the Dark Ages that we should all put behind us?
We will have a presentation followed by an open discussion led by Saxon Sigerson, AIA.
