Apio, a 14 year old Karamojong girl and her mother run their household onmoney wired through mobile money service from her father who works at asecurity firm in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. When her father all of a suddenstops communicating with the family at a time when Apio's mother is pregnantand might need a costly medical operation, she travels to Kampala to find him sothey can send money quickly back home.On the back of this extraordinary story of responsibility and courage, 'THEKAMPALA STORY' also portraits a modern Africa where for instance, a decadeago, 300.000 people in Uganda had access to a telephone, today more than3.000.000 people own a mobile phone. The mobile phone has become an integralpart of the average African. It is used not only for communication but forcommercial purposes too especially through mobile phone banking.
