Gore Vidal: The United States of Amnesia
This film balances Gore Vidal's personal life and political views as we examine a man who lived at the center of 20th century culture and politics in the US. From his friendships with Eleanor Roosevelt and President Kennedy to his famous debates with William Buckley and Christopher Hitch ens. Through new interviews and historical footage, Gore draws dramatic conclusions on the fate of the nation in the modern age. This is an unashamedly candid and opinionated film.We also pull back the veil on Gore Vidal's unique personal life. For years Gore led a very private life with his lifetime companion Howard Austen. We gained access to this world and Gore discussed his views on love, life and companionship.
