FUTURE FILMMAKING: Digital Documentary That Bridges Cultures
From Internet uploads on YouTube to Vimeo, to cell phone capture and satellite, documentary filmmaking has changed the face of modern news-gathering and traditional media. Technology has allowed information to flow outside of political gate keeping creating a true global village, bridging cultures and addressing topical social and political concerns.
This program will include the presentation of two documentaries from different sides of the world: the United States, Kosovo and South Africa. Each film presentation will include an audience question and answer period lead by a humanities scholar with the filmmaker. The program culminates with a panel addressing the thematic elements presented, their social, cultural and psychological impact, and the future trends digital capture and storytelling.
