RHYTHMIC RITUALS - SHORTS PACKAGE
Grands Canons- Alain Biet -Superimposed, condensed, multiplied, thousands of documentary drawings in successive series come to life on the screen, composing a veritable visual symphony of everyday objects.
Trip Report // Music of the Solomon Islands- David Bettencourt -A rare and compelling insight into the sights and sounds from the remote group of Islands in the South Pacific.
RIAFN- Hannes Lang -RIAFN is a cinematic journey into the soundscape of the Alps. Idiom, song, as well as calls and commands of shepherds are condensed to create a musical film between artistic ideal and documentarian realism.
Cuban Heel Shoes- Julio Mas Alcaraz -The story of two teenage boys in a marginal neighbourhood of Madrid, a place hostile to each of their desires. With serious family problems, and surrounded by an aggressive, macho, homophobic environment, they must lead a double life to hide the beginning of their love relationship and their passion for flamenco dance.
Sound and Sole- Cara Hagan -Arthur Grimes was born and raised in the Appalachian mountains. He is the only professionally working, African-American buck dancer in Boone, North Carolina. In this short documentary, Arthur recounts his dance journey from eager youth to professional master, gives us a glimpse into his performance experience, and demonstrates his deep love for Appalachian music, dance and history.
