CATS The Musical
Cats was the longest-running Broadway show in history from 1997 until 2006 when it was surpassed by The Phantom of the Opera. As of 2018, it is the fourth-longest-running Broadway show and the sixth-longest-running West End show. Cats has been translated into 15 languages and has been performed around the world many times, particularly in Germany and Japan. The Japanese production by the Shiki Theatre Company has played over 10,000 performances since it first opened in 1983. The musical was adapted into a direct-to-video film in 1998, with a 2019 film adaptation by Tom Hooper set to follow.
