Brent Penny (Pennington) is a Minneapolis-based queer singer-songwriter and musician. His arrangements exhibit a wide range of influences including folk, psych, pop, and experimental moments. Combining melodies informed by youthful Mormon church choir melodies with the timbre of an effeminate Neil Young, Penny has found a unique niche in a songwriting style that bridges the gaps between the many genres his music draws on.
With the versatility of someone who has played in various lo-fi and DIY bands such as Bathtub Cig and The Awful Truth and a background in curating nightlife spaces, Penny is a dynamic live performer who combines deadpan vulnerability with fierce honesty.
