CITY OF JOEL is about an insular ultra-Orthodox Hasidic sect in Munroe New York that wants to significantly expand the land it owns. The result is a turf war with its non-Jewish neighbors and a conflict between the right to practice ones religion versus the American vision of a melting pot. With unprecedented access, the filmmakers tell the story from the perspectives of all of those involved.
