Combining passion for traditional Hungarian music with a desire to innovate and create, Söndörgö is one of the most exciting roots music bands in Europe today. Their sound ranges from sizzling power to light, springy and delicately plucked, led by their signature instrument the tambura. The group was founded by the Eredics brothers in the mid-90s with the mission of preserving and evolving musical traditions of Serbia and Croatia. They tour the globe non-stop, with regular appearances at WOMEX, WOMAD, Roskilde, the Barbican and many other major international festivals. Their most recent album, Tamburocket, topped the European World Music Chart for four consecutive months.
The Nordlys Global Voices Series provides cross-cultural understanding and enrichment through the universal language of music. Featuring original and traditional musicians from non-English-speaking nations, this series is made possible by the generous support of The Nordlys Foundation.
