Produced and Hosted by Amy Salloway Featured Storytellers: Klark Eversman and Heidi Arneson
Story Club Minneapolis is a live monthly storytelling show featuring both an open mic segment and a curated set of performers from all over the Twin Cities arts scene and beyond. Story Club showcases true, autobiographical stories -- especially stories that are bold, vulnerable, unexpected, and connected to the complexity of our cultural environment. No two Story Club evenings are ever alike, but each month when we wrap up the show, we feel like weve witnessed a new, unique little community coming together.
So! Starting at 6pm, audience members are invited to put their names in the jar for the opportunity to tell an up-to-7-minute story onstage (Requirements? Has to be a story, has to be true, has to be about you!). When the show begins at 7, three or four tellers are drawn at random to perform, and they'll be followed by our featured guests. Does this make you want to tell a story? GOOD! (Do it! Do it! Do it!)
Story Club's host and producer is actor/writer Amy Salloway! She's the creator of the award-winning autobiographical touring solo plays Does This Monologue Make Me Look Fat?, So Kiss Me Already, Herschel Gertz!, and Circumference, as well as the two-person show Entwined. She's contributed true personal stories to programs on MPR and CBC, and has been both a storyteller and story coach for the hit national podcast RISK! You can take memoir and creative writing classes from Amy through Minneapolis Community Ed, and storytelling workshops through The Story Studio. Find out more at Amy's Facebook page Awkward Moment Productions.
Klark Eversman was born on the day the Beatles landed in America and received his BA in English on Reagan's last day in office. Since then, he's been an actor, writer, filmmaker and play producer in the Twin Cities. He's got a regional Emmy in the closet, a cluster of storytelling event trophies on a shelf next to his bar and a folder behind the bar with three certificates for winning Moth Story Slams. (Why doesn't The Moth give trophies??) He's currently developing a one-man storytelling show titled The Auto Show, in which he examines his life through the lens of all the cars he's loved - or hated. Impressively, he has an IMDB profile, and it's right here: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm3981154.
Heidi Arneson is an author, playwright, and storyteller. She explored the delights and demons of girlhood in her series of one-woman shows. Her awards include a Bush Artist Fellowship, a Loft/Jerome Minnesota Writers Grant, and a Minnesota State Arts Board Artists Initiative Grant. Her plays include Bloodymerryjammyparty, Itchy Tingles and The Book of We. Her first novel, Interlocking Monsters, delves into dark secrets in the fictional town of White Rock. Her second novel, The Chalk Canoe, a coming-of-age thriller, and will be released May 2 of 2019. Find out more at www.heidiarneson.com.
