Hear the amazing versatility of banjo on old time, bluegrass and contemporary originals. This team has about 200 years of collective picking time under their belts! Host Bob Altschuler performs and records with Thirteen Feet of Bluegrass and Dyer Switch. He's been heard on NPR and radio and TV commercials, and was featured in the May 2011 Banjo Newsletter. Hilary Kostanoski-Hawke plays with Brooklyn's M Shanghai Stringband, Dubl Handi and Locust Honey Stringband. She runs the first Oldtimey jam in Brooklyn for adult novices. David Kiphuth's specialty is Round Peak-inspired claw hammer and bluegrass. He founded the seminal band Apple Country, and has played with Rossbach's Chestnut Grove and with Stacy Phillips and Phil Rosenthal. Lorraine Lee Hammond is a tradition-bearer specializing in ballads. She tours regularly in the U.S. and British Isles. She'll be accompanied by her husband, ace guitarist Bennett Hammond. Jerry Oland has played 5-string banjo for over 40 years. He has shared the stage with many nationally known performers (including Dan Tyminski), and has played with a vast array of Hudson Valley bands.
