In just one season, The BAND Group has garnered a reputation for creating critically- and audience-acclaimed work that pairs great theatre with a non-profit group working on a cause the play addresses. Whether its LQBTQIA+ oppression (the company's debut production of TART), sexual violence (TITUS: Sweet Water, Silent Walks; one of the breakout hits at this year's Minnesota Fringe Festival), or the necessity of civic engagement (the company's acclaimed chamber production of Maple and Vine), The BAND Group's model of Find the Cause, Find the Play, Find the Non-Profit has created electrifying theatre that brings audiences and non-profits together in a truly unique fashion.
The performers for the evening feature an eclectic mix of old friends and new faces. Kevin McLaughlin, co-founder of the iconic queer comedy troupe Hot Dish and star of the company's production of TART, will emcee the evening as his iconic character "Baabra." The evening will also feature Jackie O'Neil, a BAND Group company member who choreographed and played the role of Lavinia in TITUS, Jolie Hassler, who played roles in both TITUS and Maple and Vine, The Sharpies, an up and coming WTF (Women, Trans, Femme) Improv group, Todd O'Dowd, a BAND Group company member who has been involved in each production both on and off-stage, Poppy Racous, a well-loved burlesque performer in the Twin Cities, and many more!
