"The influence of groups like Son Volt and the Jayhawks can be heard prominently, but a closer listen also reveals echoes of Johnny Cash and Tom Waits." - City Pages, Minneapolis/Saint Paul
Ghost Wagon's unique sounds make it difficult to place within any particular genre. But, rather than trying to attach labels, just listen to the songs - songs that present moving lyrics and beautiful melodies, and are adorned with multilayered instruments (fiddle, sax, pedal steel, accordion, guitars, uke, mando, keys) to evoke emotion as well as thought.
Labels are tricky though. Simply put, this is American Music. Ghost Wagon's sounds flow from Americana to rock to country to pop to folk. Start your holiday season with Ghost Wagon, along with some special friends, as they play tunes off their debut album, Crooked and Dark, showcase new ones from their forthcoming album, Lost, and throw in a few holiday numbers to set you right.
What began as a collection of musicians simply looking to make authentic music and sharing it with others, has, within a couple years time, seen Ghost Wagon playing many of the finest clubs the Twin Cities has to offer, including the Turf Club, the Icehouse, Lees Liquor Lounge, 7th Street Entry, the Pourhouse, and Nomad World Pub. Their debut album Crooked & Dark, continues to receive positive reviews and radio air play throughout the United States and Canada.
And now it's time to bring the music back to the Bryant-Lake Bowl Theater. Come join the holiday party as Ghost Wagon, along with some special musical friends, play favorites off Crooked & Dark, and new ones from their sophomore effort, "Lost" due out January 2019.
This time around Ghost Wagon is: JC Collins (drums), Marc Dockter (keys), Chris Hagedorn (sax), Neil Johnson (bass), John Mack (guitar/vocals), Chuck Nelson (vocals/guitars/harp), AJ Swenson (vocals), and Jeff Waldeland (pedal steel/guitar).
