Styled after the old-time "brother acts" (Everly Brothers, Louvin Brothers and Blue Sky Boys), the husband and wife duo of Mark and Mel Guarino have spent nearly 30 years preserving the tradition of close harmony country music. Their old hillbilly and bluegrass mixed with American folk music produces a repertoire ranging from Buck Owens honky-tonk howlers to Lilly Brothers bluegrass gospel to sweet Stephen Foster melodies, all bound together with haunting close harmonies.
Back in the day Mel contributed her splendid, sultry, crooning vocals to rock and folk bands in New York City, but soon returned to the working man's country music she first heard and loved in her dirt-road-one-horse-hometown of Black Oak Indiana. Mark Guarino cut his teeth on rockabilly and country and moved on to a punk-rock-country fusion before collaborating with Mel in the Bluebillies.
Celebrated multi-instrumentalist John Kribs, well known throughout the region from his years with The McKrells, Johnny & the Triumphs, and The Racquette River Rounders, joins on banjo and guitar.
