In an intimate listening room that combines the refinement of a concert hall with the comfort of a living room, Caffe Lena is devoting the 2nd Tuesday of each month to America's most original contribution to the musical palate, JAZZ. This continuing series is hosted by resident composer, pianist and jazz master, Chuck Lamb, with support from music producer Joel Moss. JAZZ at Caffe Lena features collaborations between Lamb and internationally touring jazz artists, as well as many of the Capital Region's best.

Chuck Lamb, who has been a member of the Brubeck Brothers Quartet since 2002, is not only an exciting and emotive pianist in his own right, but also a prolific composer of jazz, fusion, classical and world music. Most recently, Chuck and his band have released a CD of his original acoustic fusion music, titled North By Northeast. The CD has been receiving airplay on major jazz stations and garnering new fans and rave reviews worldwide.

Valery Ponomarev is a Russian Trumpeter who came to the US in 1973. He has worked with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, performing at halls, clubs, and festivals all over the world. The long list of jazz luminaries Mr. Ponomarev performed, traveled and recorded with includes super stars of modern jazz such as: Benny Golson, Max Roach, Joe Henderson, Jimmy Cobb, Don Braden, Curtis Fuller, Charles McPherson, the Duke Ellington Orchestra under Mercer and Paul Ellington, and many others.
In addition to playing with his quintet, Valery leads and writes for his big band VPJBB a.k.a. Our Father Who Art Blakey. The VPJBB performed at Dizzys, Iridium, Jazz Standard, and other venues in NYC and appears regularly at the legendary Zinc Bar in the Village. The band's CD featuring Benny Golson accumulated numerous well- minded and raving reviews. It also made the list of the best recordings of 2016.
