TAIKOPROJECT + Sumie Kaneko in Concert
TAIKOPROJECT collaborates with shamisen and koto virtuoso Sumie Kaneko for one night only. This is a rare opportunity to see the ensemble in an intimate setting, up close and personal.
TAIKOPROJECT is one of the nation's leading professional taiko drum ensembles, having toured to some of the top performing arts centers across the country. They have also helped expose millions of viewers to taiko, with mainstream televised performances on the Grammy Awards, the Academy Awards, NBC's The Voice, Conan, The Late Late Show, and more.
Sumie Kaneko is a master of the koto (Japanese harp/zither) and shamisen (Japanese banjo). Based in New York City, she has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center, the Washington DC Jazz Festival, and many more. She also regularly serves as a cultural ambassador through the Japan Foundation's international outreach programs. While she is well-versed in traditional works, she is also a consummate innovator, creating new music and compositions blending Jazz and World music influences.
The show is the culmination of a year's worth of creative work, discussion, and experimentation. There are less than 50 tickets left (as of 10/31/2018).
Support is provided by The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles.
