... a pastiche of dance and music inspired by formalities, facades, illusions, & clowns...
Conceived and Curated by Dancer/Choreographer Penelope Freeh.
Tuxedo is a new solo for Freeh choreographed by Helen Hatch. Investigating an individual's journey through glamour and grit, the work pits protective tactics against the risk of exposure.
Freeh and Hannah Sullivan co-choreograph and perform two new duets with original live music by classical guitarist Jeremy Verwys. The performers convey powerful and feminine archetypal imagery in Breath, and create an atmosphere of durational suspense in Rise.
Trance Formations II: Vociferations is a song cycle by composer Andres Carrizo. Duets choreographed by Freeh for Hatch and Darrius Strong, the cycle features soprano Carrie Henneman Shaw.
Vesti la Giubba is a deeply moving solo choreographed by James Sewell and performed by Freeh. It charts the story of Pagliacci, a clown processing his lovers betrayal.
Additional Musical and Creative Contributions by Seth Conover and Todd Spahr.
