An Evening with Donlyn Lyndon, FAIA (2018 Experience Architecture)
Architect Donlyn Lyndon, FAIA, is widely recognized for his lifetime dedication to the design of places, and for his research examining the structure of place and the ethical dimensions of design. We thank Maria Ogrydziak, AIA, for bringing him to Sacramento as the featured speaker during Experience Architecture.

Lyndon will discuss The Sea Ranch community, in which he has been centrally involved since its founding. With partners Charles Moore, William Turnbull and Richard Whitaker, he designed Condominium One, built in 1965 as a defining example of the principles that would make The Sea Ranch a powerful model of architecture tuned to its region. While the Central Valley is a very different place, the ideas that underlie the design of The Sea Ranch  responding to the climate and topography and the imaginative adaptation of traditional ways of building  will spark a much-needed discussion of what an architecture of our valley might be.

Experience Architecture is a public-outreach event designed to facilitate greater transparency with the public in how architects create our built environment and how it impacts their daily lives; to create an ongoing dialogue to inform a distinct, regional, architectural identity; and to highlight existing relationships between the region and its architecture. The 2018 event is scheduled from October 17th - 21st.
