Every month a different local musician performs their original music. Between songs, a group of local improvisers, The Local Music Scene, improvises comedic scenes inspired by the lyrics. Hosted by Philip Simondet. October's guest: Dan Israel.
Dan Israel is a longtime fixture on the Minneapolis music scene. He was the first guest on 89.3 The Current's "Local Show" and has been called "the hardest working singer-songwriter in Minnesota." He won Song of the Year (for "Come to Me") in the 2005 Minnesota Music Awards and Songwriter of the Year in the 2006 MMAs. He formed Dan Israel and The Cultivators in 1996 and has released 14 critically acclaimed albums. He received a 4-star review from the UK's "Uncut" magazine for his 2007 album "Turning." His newest album, "You're Free", released in May 2018, has received unprecedented amounts (for Israel) of press and radio airplay, with the record debuting at #151 on the NACC (North American College and Community radio) charts and a review in No Depression calling Dan "one of the country's best singer/songwriters working today."
