'19 All of Us: A Concert of Favorite Choral Selections
Victor Hugo famously wrote, "Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent." For members of Vesper Chorale, singing has become a powerful form of self-expression. Sometimes it is in the fun and frivolity. Other times it is in the power and meaning of the texts. At times it is the driving harmonic and rhythmic shifts and changes that enliven the spirit. And often it is something much less tangible that allows music to express our thoughts and feelings and bring pleasure to both musician and audience member. All of Us strives to recognize our own stories that we tell through music. Much of the repertoire for this program has been selected by individual members of Vesper Chorale because of its personal significance to them. The concert will include highlights from composers René Clausen, Morten Lauridsen, Lee Dengler, Samuel Barber, Gilbert & Sullivan, Gwyneth Walker, and Craig Hella Johnson. We all have stories to tell, and they are each unique and worth hearing. Come be part of this storytelling adventure. It is for all of us!
