Kenneth Lonergan's This Is Our Youth is a drug-clouded haze of 80s culture which examines the universal struggles and truths of young adulthood. When Warren, a 19-year-old impulsive follower, arrives at the apartment of Dennis, a 21-year-old drug dealer, in the Upper West side of Manhattan with stolen funds, a feeble plan becomes even more disastrous when Jessica, an anxiously outspoken 19-year-old, enters the scene. Lonergan paints a vivid picture of the struggle to define yourself in an era when all social progress feels lost. Sprinkled with a healthy dose of dark humor, This Is Our Youth holds up a mirror to our adolescent experiences, here and now.
