Freihofers Jazz Fest will take over the Saratoga Performing Arts Center this weekend. To kick off the festivities, Saratoga is hosting jazz in venues all over downtown. If you're seeking a superb listening environment and top-flight artists, you will find Caffe Lena to be the right choice, featuring the CHUCK LAMB QUINTET with special guests JORGE GOMEZ & RIA CURLEY.
CHUCK LAMB has been a member of the Brubeck Brothers Quartet since 2002. He is an exciting and emotive pianist as well as a prolific composer of jazz, fusion, classical and world music. Chucks most recent CD, recorded with his quartet, is titled North By Northeast and features Chucks original acoustic fusion music. The CD has been receiving airplay on major jazz stations and garnering new fans and rave reviews worldwide.
JORGE GOMEZ, who emigrated to the US from Cuba in 2000 and arrived in Saratoga in 2016, is founder, musical director and keyboardist for the three-time Grammy-nominated Cuban/Latin Jazz ensemble Tiempo Libre. Gomez and Lamb will work the keys on an irresistible, exhilarating mix of jazz harmonies and seductive Latin rhythms.
RIA CURLEY, who arrived in Saratoga by way of Central NY, LA, Washington and NYC in 2003, is a prolific and published songwriter and singer of Jazz and R&B. Ria's bountiful music career has included NYC radio airplay, TV appearances and featured performances at Radio City, Carnegie Hall and more. Since moving to Saratoga, Ria has maintained an active performance schedule throughout the region, including several sold out shows at Caffe Lena. Tonight, Curley, Lamb and Gomez (plus the talented Brad Monkell on bass and Sam Zucchini on percussion/drums) will collaborate and improvise on an eclectic and hooky mix of original and standard, vocal and instrumental, Jazz, Fusion, Cuban & R&B songs.
