Nineteen-time Grammy nominee, Four-time Grammy winner Larry Carlton, a.k.a. Mr. 335 (named for his iconic 1968 Gibson ES-335) is indisputably one of the all-time guitar greats and it's a massive honor and treat to welcome him to Caffe Lena's intimate stage.
Since the '60s Carlton has wowed audiences and critics alike with his virtuosity, his unique bluesy rhythmic melodies and warm, ringing guitar tone. His performances combine jazz, blues, rock and pop guitar rooted in the inspirational techniques of his own mentors Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Barney Kessel, B.B. King, as well as saxophonist John Coltrane and trumpeter Miles Davis.
Carlton's studio credits include Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Michael Jackson, Sammy Davis Jr., Herb Alpert, Quincy Jones, Bobby Bland, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and dozens of others. He performed with the Crusaders and then with the multi-platinum jazz super group Fourplay. With 30 albums to his credit and contributions to more than 100 albums that have gone Gold or Platinum, Larry Carlton has set the standard for artistry in a career that spans three decades.
