He's played with everyone; he's toured everywhere. He can lead a raucous big band or hold an audience silent with his solo acoustic blues, which is what he'll be doing tonight in the intimate Caffe Lena listening room that he first played in 1968 with Jerry Jeff Walker, and last played in 1974.
Bromberg's sensitive and versatile approach to guitar-playing has earned him a coveted position as a first-call session guitarist. He has laid tracks on hundreds of records by artists such as Bob Dylan (New Morning, Self Portrait, Dylan), Link Wray, The Eagles, Ringo Starr, Willie Nelson, and Carly Simon.
Bromberg's early folk and blues repertoire has continually expanded with each new album to encompass bluegrass, ragtime, country and ethnic music. With a nearly six decade music career to his credit, his guitar work remains a marvel. This is a man who can "go full-on Chicago gutbucket" with You Dont Have to Go (a Bromberg original), then slay with the jazz inflections of Ray Charles A Fool for You, rendered intimately solo.
