Jake Shimabukuro's virtuoso skills on the ukulele have transformed all previous notions of the instruments potential. This Oahu, Hawaii native blazes across the music spectrum from jazz, blues, and funk to bluegrass and classical, drawing comparisons to Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis. This one man and one small instrument holds huge audiences spellbound.
Shimabukuro became an international phenomenon when a 2005 video of him performing While My Guitar Gently Weeps went viral on YouTube. High-visibility collaborations with a wide range of artists soon followed, including Yo-Yo Ma, Jimmy Buffett, Bette Midler, Cyndi Lauper, Jack Johnson, Ziggy Marley, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Tommy Emmanuel, and Marty Friedman.
Shimabukuro has topped Billboards World Music Chart on numerous occasions, and has sold out the Hollywood Bowl, Lincoln Center, Sydney Opera House, Wolf Trap, Bonnaroo, SXSW, and the Playboy Jazz Festival. He has even played for Queen Elizabeth II.
It is an extraordinary honor and delight to present Jake Shimabukuro in the intimate setting of Caffe Lena!
