In the history of popular music, there are a handful of artists who significantly altered the landscape of popular music. The Kingston Trio were one such group, transforming traditional American folk music into a hot commodity and creating a demand -- where none had existed before -- for guitar strummers and banjo pickers singing folk songs and folk-like novelty songs in harmony.
On a purely commercial level, from 1957 until 1963, the Kingston Trio was the most vital and popular folk group in a world in which folk music was huge. They made folk music important to millions of listeners who previously had ignored it.
The Trio endured changes in the music industry and political climate, with members coming and going over the years. Only one original member still lives to tell tales of the past and his name is Bob Shane. Even though he cannot perform any longer, he encourages Josh, Mike and Tim to carry on the Kingston Trio legacy. The current line-up was raised on the Trio's music and has played it with genuine passion and authenticity for their whole lives.
Josh Reynolds, son of original founding member Nick Reynolds, has joined forces with two of Nicks closest kindred spirits, Mike Marvin, Nicks nephew, and Tim Gorelangton, Mikes musical brother. Josh, Mike & Tim capture that original Kingston Trio magic with their energy, humor and crowd charming musical repertoire.
