A woman's adventurous quest leads to finding her estranged biological father on an episode of the 1967 game show, "What's My Line." Through spirited stories and song, see how she unravels the family secret and triumphantly discovers her inner and outer voice.
Growing up in Fridley, Minnesota, Ricki Douglas was kept in the dark about the details of her father.
He and her mother met after he was discharged from the service. They fell in love and married. A few months later she became pregnant. He left. His departing words: "If she has a boy, I will make him proud. If she has a girl I do not want to know her." She had a girl.
So why would Ricki want to know him? A wife and child deserter. A dead-beat Dad. But she had to know. He was the key to finding her authentic self.
Meet the Medranos takes you along Ricki's 40-year journey and deep into the complexities of self-discovery. The two-act, one-woman play with music features Ricki portraying four roles: her mother, her aunt, her sister, and herself from the ages of 4 to 45.
The show is full of laughter to balance the drama; both clever with wit and raw with vulnerability. The music and lyrics are all original, featuring an array of styles and genres.
If you've had grandparents you adore, family members who drive you crazy, or dreams you were afraid to pursue, you'll love this inspiring and courageous true story.
During the show, enjoy a second Grain Belt beer at the 1950s price of 10 cents!
