In an intimate listening room that combines the refinement of a concert hall with the comfort of a living room, Caffe Lena is devoting the 2nd Tuesday of each month to America's most original contribution to the musical palate, JAZZ. This continuing series is hosted by resident composer, pianist and jazz master, Chuck Lamb, with support from music producer Joel Moss. JAZZ at Caffe Lena features collaborations between Lamb and internationally touring jazz artists, as well as many of the Capital Region's best.
----- Chuck Lamb, who has been a member of the Brubeck Brothers Quartet since 2002, is not only an exciting and emotive pianist in his own right, but also a prolific composer of jazz, fusion, classical and world music. Most recently, Chuck and his band have released a CD of his original acoustic fusion music, titled North By Northeast. The CD has been receiving airplay on major jazz stations and garnering new fans and rave reviews worldwide.
----- Erik Lawrence is a Saxophonist, Flutist, Sound and Vibrational Healing Practitioner Educator, Journalist, published Poet and Photographer. Beginning his saxophone and flute career playing at five, he performed on his first record at eight, taught in colleges since he was eighteen, including Williams College and Dartmouth. He has played, toured and recorded with legends including three time Grammy award winner Levon Helm, Bob Dylan, Mavis Staples, Buddy Miles, Chico Hamilton, Sonny Sharrock, Aretha Franklin, Spin Doctors, Glen Hansard, Elvis Costello, Allen Toussaint, Dr John, Wilco, My Morning Jacket, Tibetan flute master Nawang Khechog, Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky and countless others, many of whom he considers mentors and sound healers as performers. He's played on just about every major television show, stage and music festival in the world. He is currently a member of The Midnight Ramble Band (Levon Helm Band), Butler, Bernstein & The Hot 9 (with Henry Butler and Steven Bernstein) and The Levin Brothers (with Tony Levin and Pete Levin). He has been studying world music and has traveled the world performing, studying and collecting and learning to play flutes.
