Minneapolis singer/songwriter Becky Rae Dalton has gracefully emerged onto the Twin Cities music scene connecting with audiences through her powerful vocals, catchy lyrics, and authentic performances. After 16 years of writing and performing music, Becky Rae finishes a three year journey of creating her debut album "Ready or Not." The indie/folk/country album is available on iTunes and Amazon.
"Ready or Not" brings you on a journey of truth, forgiveness, and love. "Love Him All The Same" begins the album in a true country storytelling style that leads toward a beautiful acceptance. The upbeat, encouraging title track "Ready or Not," awakens the inner child and energizes the soul while the combination of bluesy guitar and Becky Rae's ethereal vocals float you away on the eerie backwaters of "Sunny Day." The tempo picks up on "A Little Longer" leaving you energized with the whirlwind of a new love. Finally, "Ol Mississippi" wistfully reminisces on letting that love go. Becky Rae's style can be likened to Lissie, Brandi Carlile, and Joni Mitchell. "Ready or Not" will leave you uplifted and ready for what life throws your way.
Based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, she developed her love for singing at the music day care she attended where she learned piano and singing in festivals. She played drums in school band but her desire to sing took over and after high school she went to McNally Smith and graduated with a Vocal Performance degree in 2001. After college, she joined her first original band and started her adventure as a songwriter. Her early influences were in alternative and folk music, and over the years, she has developed a liking for pop, blues and country. A few favorites are Sia, Bonnie Raitt, and Miranda Lambert.
In 2006, she put her career on hold when she found a lump on her neck. She continued to write music but stopped performing to take care of her health. After the surgery to remove a part of her thyroid, she found herself being challenged to extremes when singing became difficult. It took several years to overcome her vocal challenges, nevertheless, as the years passed she found a new love for her voice and her songs right along with it.
In 2013, she kicked it into gear with her solo project and started playing shows across the Minneapolis area. In 2014, she released her first acoustic album "Love and Light" and immediately started recording songs for her up and coming full band indie folk country album "Ready or Not."
