Andersen is the most elegant of singers. - ROLLING STONE A singer and songwriter of the first rank. - THE NEW YORK TIMES Eric Andersen is a great ballad singer and writer. - BOB DYLAN
Tonight we celebrate the release of "The Essential Eric Andersen," a Sony Recordings retrospective album covering fifty years of Eric's recorded history. This adds to his 25 albums of original songs, and made numerous tours of North America, Europe, and Japan.
Over the decades, Andersen has fine-tuned a unique songwriting style that combines the poetic and the plainspoken, the throb of an open heart, and the perpetual motion of a soul on fire. A fixture in the folk world since the 1960s, Andersen has penned songs recorded by Judy Collins, Linda Ronstadt, John Denver and The Grateful Dead. He also enjoyed an early association with poets Alan Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and Lawrence Ferlinghetti.
As a performer, Andersen entertains and captivates audiences globally. On stage, he moves gracefully from harmonica and guitar (acoustic and electric) to piano/keyboards while weaving tales of the past, anecdotes of the road, and sometimes hints of explanation of his song poems. Anderson is currently performing with his all star band comprised of Steve Addabbo, guitar (2017 Grammy Award Winner), Cheryl Prashker on percussion, and Eric Lee rounding the sound on harmony vocals, fiddle and mandolin as the song requires.
