Join Caffe Lena's annual celebration of the roots and branches of the Blues! From the sweet, slow sounds of the Missippi Delta, to the bouncy rhythms of the Piedmont, to the gritty urban sounds of today, this weekend we present the folks who are keeping Blues tradition alive and growing.
Street Corner Holler - This duo features slide guitarist Mark Tolstrup and drummer / vocalist Dale Haskell. They brew up a raw, fearless, righteous mix of swamp boogie and Delta stomp that is groovy, beautiful and haunting.
George Wilson playing Leadbelly - Known throughout the Northeast for his old-time fiddle, banjo and guitar, tonight George plays the songs of Huddie Ledbetter, better known as Leadbelly, the source of some of America's best loved songs (Midnight Special, House of the Rising Son, In the Pines) and "King of the 12-string guitar."
Michael Jerome Browne - One of Canada's finest bluesmen, MJB is a multiple Juno Nominee, Maple Blues Acoustic Artist of the Year and Canadian Folk Music Award Solo Artist of the Year. He digs way back into the roots of the blues with his gourd banjo, and brings it right up to the present with fresh new songs on national guitar.
