The Award-winning People Dancing Company teams up with Stone Chalet Event Center to offer a series of sensory-friendly performances featuring live music, refreshments, and an opportunity to do a bit of dancing yourself. There will be a series of two performances and two workshop experiences in the 2018 Season. The first takes place Sunday February 4th from 4:30-6 pm. The theme of the performance is Around the World in 88 Keys. Live Music performances on the Centers Steinway featuring international piano repertory will be highlighted.
February 4th Event Details Join People Dancing Company members and special musical guests in an elegant, sensory-friendly program of dance and music. Will feature new work, including Wild Swans an ensemble piece with choreography by Rebecca Zahm, set to the music of Elena Kats-Chernin, a Soviet-born Australian composer. Also premiering will be tap ensemble piece choreographed by the Artistic Director Christina Sears, presented to "A Train" by Duke Ellington. Company Member Apryl Pipe will present a new work, and Holly Fishman Matthews' new ensemble work contrasting contemporary dance and Capoeira will be premiered as well. The Feathers Project premieres their new act, and dance artist Joy Morris offers a solo performance. Ballet Guest performer Isabella Rybinski, courtesy of Jackson School of the Arts, performs a solo to the music of Debussy, which is choreographed by the Company's Artistic Director. Tango Duo El Kronox will perform and will offer casual instruction at the conclusion of the program. This is your chance to try out some of the dance moves follows the matinee as there is a brief reception following the performance. Performances begin at 4:30. Advance purchase is strongly recommended as seating is limited.
