HALEY
Everybody wants a story. Something to sell. Im here to tell you that there isnt one with this album, at least in the traditional sense, but ten. Perhaps each of them contain more stories, sitting inside each other like nesting dolls. I could sit here and tell you that some of the songs are about growing up in the Black Hills. Some of the songs are about my parents. Some of the songs are about sexuality. Some of the songs are about loss of youth, teenage parenthood, the lines of social disorder for women, or the terror of jealousy and suspicion. But what I write is borne of my own set of memories and ideas, and once they are released into the world, they do not belong to me anymore. The interpretation is all yours, therefore these stories are yours. What I can tell you is this: My name is HALEY. Im 33 years old, a Taurus, and I live in Saint Paul, MN with my daughter Clementine. Impossible Dream is my 7th full length studio album. I also sing in a band called Grammas Boyfriend.
GEOFFREY LAMAR WILSON
Geoffrey Lamar Wilson is a musician and composer. Born and raised in Minnesota, he left home at 18 for New York to study music and live in mediocre overpriced housing. After finishing a jazz degree, he promptly gave up the saxophone and decided to learn basic guitar and become a singer songwriter. He found a perfectly neglected apartment in Brooklyn and from there led the band Jus Post Bellum, which some described as indie folk and Historical Fiction, touring much of the east coast, south, and midwest over the course of 5 years while recording several records.
In recent years, particularly since returning to Minneapolis last summer, his work has shifted from dusty Post Bellum narratives to contemporary issues spanning the American Civil Rights era to current incidents of racial violence and police brutality. He draws inspiration from the simple musicality, cutting wit and lyricism of Bob Dylan, the stark narratives and brutal honesty of James Baldwin, and a childhood steeped in Soul music and R&B."
