THE JONES DICKENS

The members of this Alternative hip-hop duo have been playing together for over a decade. Barry Rohrer (aka Brainchild) and Frederick N. Gotfredson Herrera (aka Fredy Herrera) met when they played with the Minneapolis hip-hop band Leroy Smokes. The group won a Los Angeles Music Award for Best Rap Album and appeared on Bodogs Million Dollar Battle of The Bands reality show on FUSE-TV. When The Jones Dickens started out as a basement jam session, the chemistry was undeniable. Soon they had a full set of live songs and a fully produced album to go along with it.

LEROY SMOKES

Straight from Minneapolis, the hip Midwestern town that was home to Bob Dylan and Prince, the 10 member live hip-hop unit known as Leroy Smokes puts out records and draws sizeable crowds in the club scene. They also draw comparisons to prolific artists such as Outkast, Kanye West, The Roots and Black Eyed Peas. Having been selected in the top 10 out of a pool of over 7,000 bands, they appeared in a reality show on FUSE TV (Bodog One Million Dollar Band Battle). They are no strangers to accolades, winning an L.A. Music award for their 2006 release, 'Love Hustle Theater' (BEST RAP ALBUM). Leroy Smokes may have graced our television screens and produced countless head-bobbin studio tracks... But at the end of the day, they are still best known for high-energy live shows. If you haven't seen it, you are missing one of the most electric performances in hip-hop today.

ILL CHEMISTRY (CARNAGE THE EXECUTIONER & DESDAMONA)

Ill chemistry is a musical duo rooted in Hip Hop, using beat box & vocals with the help of a loop pedal and effects pedal. Since their beginning, the group has been an innovative addition to the Twin Cities music scene. Their collaboration includes not only stage performances but work with youth. Together, Desdamona & Carnage have been developing a curriculum called R.hythm A.nd P.oetry that includes beat box technique and creative song writing. The two regularly work in schools around the midwest, inspiring youth to find their voice and use it. The duo was deemed ill chemistry by a fan because of the connection they have on stage and after numerous fans mentioned the chemistry they shared, it was clear what the name of the group should be. Each member has their own solo projects available on itunes and other download sites. Look for Desdamona & Carnage The Executioner - They are featured on each other's projects! So, check it out and get a taste of ill chemistry before their first full length drops on Jan 31, 2012!

CHANCE YORK

Chance York is the Minneapolis emcee, well-known for work with his jazzy quartet, Crunchy Kids. 2016 was a remarkable year for Chance, releasing his first solo EP, Fed and Famished. The EP was brief and experimental, mentioned as one of the best MN hip hop releases of the year by GO95. As a favorite special guest in each vein of Minneapolis hip-hops sub-genres, Chance exploded onto the scene as an act all his own.

He released the Crop EP with the ever-popular, Crunchy Kids and toured regionally, blessing the main stage of SummerSet Music Festival, opening up for Chance the Rapper. In addition to his work with Crunchy Kids, as a member of City Pages 2015 Best New Act, Eric Maysons Detail, Chance firmly established himself as a dynamic showman, singer, and potent rapper, with his abilities crossing lines of genre and subculture.

As 2016 comes to a close, Chance released Highest Self, an album produced entirely by championed producer, Big Cats! Highest Self fuses banging 808s and hi hats with beautiful musical compositions, orchestrated to fit Chances profound explorations of spirit science, deep insights into optimism and a levity on current events.

BIG ZACH

New MC (a.k.a. Big Zach) is a longtime staple of the underground hip-hop movement in Minnesota. As a teenager, Zach jumped on the scene early with his crew the Kanser Troop, playing coffee shop shows and opening for Twin Cities pioneers such as Urban Atmosphere, the Abstract Pack, the Micranots, Musab, and others.

In 1997 Kanser began to release cassette tapes of their music. By age 20, Zach was booking/hosting and co-running Headspin Sundays, the now-legendary all-ages Hip Hop weekly held at the late Bon Appetit Cafe. At age 24, Zach was blessed to be able to be a part of the band Traditional Methods, featuring Heiruspecs bassist player from Sean McPherson and singer/MC Sarah White. Traditional Methods politically-fueled and spiritually motivated music was able to add to the energy of Twin Cities Metro area. The release party for their one and only album, Falling Forward, drew nearly 800 people to First Avenues main room in June of 2004.

Just as the movie Eight Mile began to raise the profile of battle rap in early 2002, Zach began hosting the most legendary MC battles ever held in Minnesota: The Loring Pasta Bar tournaments every third Monday of the month. After stepping down as host, Zach won the one-year anniversary Battle at the Loring in February of 2003. Over the next three years Zach competed in battle tournaments in and out of state. Winning six different tournaments, including the Twin Cities Celebration of Hip Hop in 04 and 05.

After that, Zach held an open challenge at the Dinkytowner cafe to any Twin Cities emcee. The challenge stayed open for about 3 years sparking some memorable battles and Zach remained undefeated. ..... But then.... Zach started to get slow. All of the burnt brain cells have sizzled that part of his mental computer and now a days, most likely anyone could out freestyle Zach.

Kanser toured hard for about a decade, doing hundreds of shows and working independently. In 2007 Zach released a solo album called White Jesus produced by ANT (Atmosphere), Big Jess, 84 Caprise, Buck KAC, and Dillon Parker. Zach and the other rapper in Kanser, Unicus, became part of a live, hip-hop band called More Than Lights. In the Midwest, More Than Lights was able to float between festival life, underground hip-hop culture, and bar band gigs. More Than Lights sold out local venues such as the Triple Rock, the Fine Line and the Cabooze, while touring around the country playing very animated music festivals. After most of those shows Big Zach could be found walking around the camp grounds high as hell, talking to himself.

In March of 2011 Big Zach released another solo album produced by Big Jess called New Crayons. On Dec 1, 2011, Zach released a book called Headspin, Headshots and History; Growing Up In Twin Cities Hip Hop. Zach felt blessed to be able to share those stories and pay homage to some of the pioneers that built the local scene he has given him so much. There are 945 grammar mistakes in the first edition of the book, but that just proves Zach was keeping it real.

In May of 2013, Zach wrote and self published his first novel, When Bees Enslave Ants. He labeled it 'hip hop superhero psychedelic science fiction' but in deeper truth that book holds Zach's spiritual beliefs inside of it. It is written for those of us on a deep vibration of reality. In 2014/15 Zach has been creating music with an awesome string band, Useful Jenkins. And working on his second novel, Hula-hoops & Vampires.
