THE ART OF TRANSLATION
Jessica Cohen is translator for Israeli author, David Grossman. Cohen and Grossman shared the 2017 Man Booker International Prize for Grossmans newest novel, A Horse Walks into a Bar.
Ms. Cohen will speak not only about the challenges of translating one language to another, but translating imagery and humor across cultures. Its a talk not to be missed.
Ms. Cohen will be in conversation with Santa Fe resident Bonnie Ellinger, Ph.D., Applied Linguistics. Dr. Ellinger is no stranger to the complexities of translation from Hebrew to English. She taught English at Israels Bar Ilan University for over twenty years.
