The new torchbearer for the longstanding tradition of Adirondack folk ballads, Alex Smith draws much of his inspiration from his upbringing in rural Hamilton County. The stories Smith crafts range from somber tributes to his childhood friend who left home to join the military, to tunes about the local countryside. Bob Everhart of country music international called Smith a wonderful poetic writer who captures words full of meaning, matching them with creative music that creeps quietly into the past at the same time as dancing with the present, and sneaking a peak at the future. He's currently touring with fiddle player Jake Brillhart, a fiddle player whose soaring accompaniments perfectly balance Smiths rich voice.
