Take one-part Crosby, Stills and Nash; a dollop of Peter, Paul and Mary; and a few morsels of The Byrds, Joni Mitchell and James Taylor, and you get Gathering Time a head-turning folk-rock harmony trio that's "getting a whole beehive-full of buzz" on the Northeast regional folk scene. Their seamless vocal blends are the centerpiece of a potpourri of familiar folk, pop and traditional songs, as well as memorable originals. Based on Long Island, the group's latest CD, Red Apples and Gold, has been getting national airplay on folk radio shows since its release last spring. The album is a rich collection of songs with themes of adventure, family, settling down, farming, harvest and celebration.
