Mipso is an indie, Americana quartet that has taken four-part harmony and Appalachian influences into new territory. The group has wandered off the path blazed by Earl Scruggs and Doc Watson to find a new clearing for their southern string band sound.
Currently celebrating the release of their new album Coming Down The Mountain (April 7, 2017), Mipso ventures further than ever from their string-band pedigree to discover a broader Americana where classic folk-rock and modern alt-country sounds mingle easily with Appalachian tradition. The album came together in a friends barn on land usually used for growing garlic and training dogs. The albums ten songs all originals - finds Mipso exploring the ideas of our changing relationship to the idea of home, and about being pushed or pulled by forces bigger than us."
Mipso has been hailed as hewing surprisingly close to gospel and folk while still sounding modern and secular.
