Spoutnique @ Acadie Rock 2017
Spoutnique is a mysterious alt-disco outfit from Edmundston, New Brunswick. Before taking the stage as a group for the first time in 2015, multi-instrumentalist/singer songwriter/bedroom producer Paul Bourgoin spent over a decade playing in various bands and moving back and forth between Montreal and his hometown in NB. Writing songs on his laptop as a way to pass time and deal with his insomnia, Bourgoin has gathered a couple dozens songs of multiple genres over the years.
Then finally came the home recording project that has started in his attic once he settled into his apartment in Edmundson. With the help of fellow musician Daniel Bérubé (guitar, vocals, sound engineer) and Jason Guerrette (percussions, synthesizer, vocals), Bourgoin (Wurlitzer, pecussions, vocals) began working on demos as a means to promote Spoutnique's first gig ever booked. The session was cut short and the band released a radio edit of "Long Way Home", along with a video shot and put together by Guerrette. Long time friend Denis Nadeau (drums) and high school music teacher Mario Cormier (Bass, Lap Steal Guitar) later joined the band only a few weeks before the show.
Delivering a highly energetic live show with hypnotic grooves and spacey sounds, and fusing Deep House with post punk and electronic undertones, Spoutnique's music transports you through a musical landscape reminiscent of 70s disco, with a modern twist. Their first album entitled "My Blue Sky Turns Teal, Vol. I" is set to be released April 2017.
