Greenwich Village was the epicenter of the folk music revolution that gave birth to folk clubs such as Caffe Lena, along with a wave of writers and performers who created introspective, socially-aware, deeply personal songs that have now earned their spot in the American Songbook. Village fixtures Bob Dylan, Tim Hardin, Richard Fariña, Fred Neil and Phil Ochs changed the folk repertoire from traditional songs to songs sprung from personal, contemporary experience. This freewheeling evening explores the lasting legacy of artists and songs that still resonate today.
Richard Barone is an acclaimed recording artist, performer, producer, and author. Since pioneering the indie rock scene in Hoboken, NJ as frontman for The Bongos, Barone has produced countless studio recordings and worked with artists ranging from Beach Boy Al Jardine to Sean Lennon, Dion, John Sebastian, Alejandro Escovedo, Lou Reed, and Pete Seeger. He has scored shows and staged all-star concert events at such venues as Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl. His memoir Frontman: Surviving The Rock Star Myth was published by Hal Leonard Books.
